Richard Kong was appointed by the United Hmong Family Board of Trustees to head the biggest Hmong sports event in the nation. The International Hmong Freedom celebration draws over 30,000 people each year from across the country.  Recently, the board terminated Mr. Kong’s contract. Although it’s not clear whether it is Mr. Kong’s decision to leave or the board of trustees terminated his contract.  He said little about the matter at a recent press conference.

From what we’ve learned, Richard Kong said in a statement that he’s no longer with United Hmong Family due to differences of vision and leadership. “I wanted to change the organization. However, there were internal forces which prevented the change”, said Richard.
