3HMONGTV NEWS (07/19/2018) – Hmong Heritage Preservation Committee (HHPC) members held a press conference on July 19 at Hmong Village Shopping Center to address safety concerns after Jacky Vue was killed at the Hmong Annual Freedom Festival in St. Paul. Tha Ying Her, Chair of HHPC, says the event organizers should have hire additional security personnel for baggage checking at entrances. Seng Khang, member of HHPC, attended the festival and says that there needs be more officer presence when fights break out. He sees very little of that this year.
Tha Ying Her emphasizes that both the J4 Hmong Freedom Festival and the MN Hmong New Year should be owned and operated by the entire Hmong community and not by a few who seek personal gain.
