Mayor Sheng Thao reflects on the her past and says it’s rough being homeless and a victim of domestic abuse. She goes on to say that it’s great to be Hmong as she thanks her supporters. She says what Hmong people have is resilience. She credits the late General Vang Pao for making it possible for Hmong people to come to America. She reminds the Hmong community that, although, she’s the Mayor of Oakland, she will always be a Hmong mayor.
Mayor Sheng Thao was invited by the Biden administration to Washington several times since her victory in 2022. She says Washington will be watching the Hmong people because wherever she goes, she will always advocate for Hmong people and make their life better.
